Lately I’ve been focusing most of my efforts on Hupages and I’m actually quite surprised by the results. It hasn’t been easy by any means, but I’ve finally started to see some nice return on all that time I’ve spent writing. Hubpages is a great place to not only get strong backlinks but also to make some great cash while you’re at it. You need go at it just like you would with a small niche site if you want to have a shot at making any money. Until I started adding backlinks, my Hubs were making less than a quarter of what they do now and I only see that increasing as time goes on. I’ve had pretty similar results with Infobarrel. The only real difference has been that it takes a little longer to rank and without any backlinks, they really don’t get much traffic. Once you go through the whole process with them though you won’t be able to tell them apart in terms of Adsense income. In fact I’ve had a slightly higher CTR (click through rate) with Infobarrel.
Of course seeing as how Hubpages is now all the rage with Internet marketers it’s only a matter of time before they get a slap (another way of saying penalty) from Google. That is why I have started work on Infobarrel which is pretty much just like Hubpages but with slightly less authority. That’s not to say that they don’t have any though. I’d say they are right up there with most good article directories like ezinearticles and goarticles. Maybe even better than the latter. It is a great place to get backlinks from and possibly even make some money. They offer a revenue sharing system like Hupages where they give you a percentage of adsense impressions but Infobarrel gives you 75% instead of 60% like Hubpages. Another great thing about them is that all your links are do follow right off the bat so you don’t have to wait for some arbitrary score to go up for your backlinks to count.
You will have to wait to have your articles published at Infobarrel until a human reviews but this is a good thing since it keeps out spammers. So hopefully the site will be around for years to come. Once you get 10 articles approved, you won’t have to wait anymore and your articles will be pre-approved as long as you don’t break their rules.
If you really want to make money with Hupages or Infobarrel, just follow the advice of Court and Mark over at the keyword academy. In the forums over there, there is a whole bunch of information on how to find keywords, target them on a hubpage or infobarrel article, and how to link build for each hub (a hub is basically just your page that you post an article on) or article. It’s some really good information that they are basically handing out for free. It costs $1 to sign up and then it’s $33 per month after that but you can download all the videos the very first day and cancel if you don’t feel the course is worth the money. But I really don’t see how anyone could fail to see how helpful the extras are that come with their course. I won’t say here but it has something to do with getting easy anchored backlinks to as many sites as you want.
Overall Infobarrel is a good site but for now you’re probably better off posting your main articles on Hubpages and then using Infobarrel as a very good backlink source. That is until Hubpages gets penalized and then everyone is going to switch over to Infobarrel and start the whole process all over again. It is defiantly worth your time for backlinks, just like EzineArticles.

Hi there!
Its fantastic to find other people who are doing the 100 hub challenge. I was motivated to do it by reading Ben’s blogs on makemoneyonlinewithseo.com. He got great results just like Court.
I am a relative newbie but I buckled down and completed my 100 hubs – yippee! I am now trying to get 100 infobarrel articles done next then I will concentrate on creating my own self hosted niche sites.
Doing these challenges are great for practicing and learning what works and what doesn’t work without wasting money on costly websites.
Earning money while going through your trials and errors is an extra bonus.
I wish you luck with the rest of your money making activities and hope you visit my site sometime.
Good luck
ps: you hubpage link doesn’t work – you need to put the hubpages.com/_XXX

That’s great to hear Tiptopcat. I was pleasantly surprised at how well Hubpages has been working out for me. Only around 20% are performers for me right now, but they do better than my niche sites now. Just keep working on backlinks for your hubs … mine didn’t make hardly anything until I finished the link building for them.
Also if you have the extra cash you should start your niche sites now and get them aging. Even if you just put up the content getting them in Google’s index now will make it easier to rank them later when you can work on them.

Thanks for the article. Write now I only write for infobarrel and ehow, but I am thinking of adding Hubpages as well.
Thanks again,
